Week Commencing 29th June 2009

As part of our “Being happy, staying healthy” week we have lots of physical play and activities planned, including
Learning about our bodies

Keep fit – working our heart and feeling our pulse!

What food keeps us healthy

Making an exercise DVD (watch out mums and dads!!)  On Friday we are going to have a Summer Parade. There will be a “Room Dance Off” between Baby Room, 2-3s Room and Pre-School Room. All children and staff will be dancing there socks off. We will be encouraging them to play instruments and make their own music – who knows – we may end up with the next X Factor finalist!!

We will, as always, be encouraging the children to make maximum use of outdoors. We will set up some new outdoor challenges e.g. how many star jumps they can manage, how long can they balance objects for, jogging on the spot. We will also be asking the children to conduct their own exercise classes – the staff are really looking forward to that and are already in training!! The children will even be able to choose their own music

We are also going to be looking at different types of music from different cultures and countries. The staff are planning to play Ampe which is a game from Ghana – if you would like more details, please feel free to ask Sue or Sarah.

Parents – be prepared for lots of paintings and drawings coming home this week. There’s loads planned!

On 1st July we’re looking to take part in Teddy Bear Step Out. This is a sponsored walk for Action for Children in which both children and staff will participate. More details to follow shortly – please ask Sue or Sarah for a sponsor form. The route will be around Pye Green and is approximately 1.1 miles. Even the babies will be included ( in their pushchairs obviously!!) If anybody else would like to come on this stroll please feel free. Lets hope the weather is kind!

We’ll also have a tea party after the walk and again family and friends are welcome. All we ask is could you please provide your children with sun cream and sun hats? Thank you.

One for the diary – we’re planning to go to Ash End Farm on 20th July. More information to follow but if you are interested in accompanying us please let us know.

As always, if you want any further information on what your child is up to please feel free to chat to us or give us a call and we’ll gladly give you more news.
